Reading are reportedly close to confirming the signing of winger Paolo Hurtado.

The Peru international is thought to have put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Championship club, which should be announced by the Royals on Wednesday evening.

The 25-year-old, who joins from FC Pacos de Ferreira, scored five goals in 23 appearances in all competitions last season for the Portuguese outfit.

Hurtado, who has also scored twice for Peru in 20 appearances, will be a welcome addition to Steve Clarke’s Reading squad following injuries to fellow wingers Garath McCleary and Tariqe Fosu at the Madejski Stadium.

It doesn,t take too much of the grey matter to work out that we need a striker who can score 20+ goals a season. What happened to Robert Beric? Bristol City offer £6 million + add ons for Crystal Palace Gayle and we complain about spending 3.5 million for Beric. Who then has the ambition?
