Liverpool and Manchester City face stiff competition in the form of Real Madrid if they want to sign Serbia international Andrija Zivkovic this month, according to the Express.

The Premier League giants, who currently sit seventh and second in the league standings respectively, are thought to be interested in snapping up the Partizan Belgrade forward before the close of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old, who has three international caps for his country, has scored an impressive 12 goals and provided eight assists in 27 appearances in all competitions this season.

However the report suggests that La Liga outfit Madrid have shocked Liverpool and Man City by launching an unexpected £11m opening bid for Zivkovic, who became the youngest-ever player to make his international debut for Serbia aged 17 back in October 2013.
