Riyad Mahrez has signed a new four-year contract with Premier League champions Leicester City.

The Algeria international, who has been strongly linked with a move to fellow top-flight rivals Arsenal before the close of the summer transfer window, has ended the speculation by agreeing an extension at the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who was crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year, scored a remarkable 17 goals and provided 11 assists last season.

Mahrez joins Foxes team-mates Jamie Vardy, Wes Morgan, Kasper Schmeichel and Andy King in signing new deals under manager Claudio Ranieri – who himself agreed a new four-year contract prior to the 2016/17 campaign.

The Algerian ace joined Leicester from French outfit Le Havre back in January 2014 for a reported bargain fee of £350,000.

Mahrez netted from the penalty spot as the defending league champions fell to a 2-1 defeat at newly promoted Hull City last weekend in their 2016/17 Premier League opener.

He is set to face Arsenal, a club who has been pursuing his signature all summer, at the King Power Stadium this Saturday.
