Shoot!’s FA Cup Awards (Semi-Finals)

Player of the Round: Willian (Chelsea)

With Eden Hazard and Diego Costa surprisingly and controversially benched by Antonio Conte, and The Blues missing Gary Cahill too, Chelsea looked unusually vulnerable for their FA Cup semi-final.

Without their main men, they were going to need someone else to fill the void, and that man was to be Willian.

The Brazilian was on it from the word go, and opened the scoring in a highly eventful game. Pedro’s tricky run could only have been stopped by a foul from Toby Alderweireld, and from the resulting free-kick, Willian placed it sumptuously in the side netting, beyond the helpless Hugo Lloris.

After Spurs equalised through Harry Kane, yet again it was Willian who took responsibility and put The Blues back in the lead before half-time.

Heun-min Son was adjudged to have fouled Victor Moses in the box, and Willian stepped up with a cool head to send goalkeeper Lloris the wrong way.
