Arguably the best defender at both clubs, Everton’s Ashley Williams has proven his worth to the Toffees in his first season at Goodison Park.

The Merseyside outfit spent £12 million on the 32-year-old last summer after his stellar displays at the heart of the Swansea defence, and when you look at how much the Swans have struggled defensively this season, it’s clear how big a presence he was.

And he has translated that form into the blue of Everton, with 30 Premier League starts indicative of his growing role as the senior defender in Koeman’s team, and overall importance to the Toffees side.

West Ham have some good defenders, notably Winston Reid and Jose Fonte, although the latter has made a slow start to life at the London Stadium, and thus doesn’t beat Williams to this team.
