Southampton have reportedly joined the race to sign England international Andros Townsend.

The Premier League outfit, who currently sit 12th in the table after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, are ready to hand the Tottenham outcast a way out of White Hart Lane in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has nine international caps to his name, has failed to score in seven first-team appearances for Spurs so far this season.

Townsend, who was reportedly the subject of a failed £10m bid from Ronald Koeman’s Saints back in the summer, has not played for Tottenham since late October after falling out with boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However Southampton face stiff competition for the England winger’s signature next month as top-flight rivals AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Swansea City are also interested in his services.

I like the way he plays very talented but hasn’t really shown it yet, I would love to see him join Southampton it would be a great move for him.

also another player I would like to see at Southampton is Charlie Austin brilliant player and can score goals in the premier league as he did with QPR why is still playing his football in the championship I don’t know?!

I’m a spurs fan and its a shame he isn’t getting played anymore wasted talent.

I like Andros, I don’t think he has a future at Spurs (shame as he looked promising) but I hope he joins a good promising side like Southampton.
