Shaqiri’s strike at Goodison Park was something very special. Photo: Marc Atkins/Offside.

Currently eighth and just five points from the Champions League spots in the Premier League, it has been another great season for Mark Hughes and his Stoke City side.

With stars like Bojan and Xherdan Shaqiri in their ranks, it shows just how far the Potters have come, and it was these two players that linked up for the club’s Goal of the Season so far.

In a thrilling seven-goal match against Everton at Goodison Park, the former switched play from just inside his own half to the onrushing latter who was approaching Tim Howard’s penalty area.

But instead of taking a touch first, like it looked like the Switzerland international needed to, he instead hit a first time looping effort over the American goalkeeper which dipped and nestled into the far corner of the goal. Outstanding techqniue.
