Arsenal have been lacking a prolific and proven goal-scorer at this level behind Olivier Giroud in recent years, with many seeing this as the chief reason for their failed title challenges.

However, with Daniel Sturridge struggling for game time at Liverpool, Wenger should be interested in acquiring his services in January.

The 27-year-old has yet to net in the Premier League this season, but looked sharp for England the other night against Scotland and scored a fine header in a 3-0 win for the Three Lions.

The former Chelsea man appears to be struggling to adapt to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play and, with the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Philippe Coutinho in incredible form, it’s difficult to see him breaking into the side any time soon.

Sturridge is a proven striker at this level, and when he gets opportunities he finds the back of the net. He’s the sort of forward Arsenal have been crying out for in recent years, so Wenger should do all he can to bring him to North London in January.
