Isco produced a better performance in his 25 minutes at Wembley on Tuesday night than Spurs have managed in both of their Champions League matches at the national stadium this season.

The 24-year-old’s introduction from the bench transformed the game as Spain came from 2-0 down to draw with Gareth Southgate’s England, and it was another indication that Pochettino should get a deal done for the Spaniard when the window reopens in January.

The Madrid midfielder has made just eight league appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, and doesn’t look like getting a new deal to remain at the Bernabeu beyond the season after next, hence the reported interest from Spurs.

Subsequently, Pochettino should do all he can to bring the talented midfielder, who can play anywhere across the middle, to White Hart Lane.

Neither of these will ever happen. Isco will want a bigger club and will have bigger clubs offering more money. Daniel Sturbridge is too much of an injury risk with not much resale value for Levy to take the chance. Tottenham need another dele alli for them to win the title.
