These 2 Tottenham players must improve if they want to challenge for the Premier League title

Harry Kane’s spell on the sidelines gave summer signing Vincent Janssen the chance to prove his worth to Pochettino.

But he didn’t fare brilliantly up top for Spurs.

He started three Premier League games in place of the injured Kane, which says something about Pochettino’s trust in the Dutchman given Kane missed five league games, with Son Heung-min deputising in the other two.

However, Janssen managed just one goal in Kane’s absence, a penalty against Leicester, and is still yet to net from open play in the Premier League in 13 appearances.

The forward has missed the target more often than hitting it, and he’s created as many chances as Kane, despite making four appearances more.

Clearly, Janssen must improve when he deputises in the squad, as Spurs cannot keep relying on Kane. If he does get injured again or suspended, Pochettino needs strength in that department and, at the moment, Janssen isn’t giving him a trustworthy alternative.
