The left-back position is clearly a problem area for Arsenal, and one that Kieran Gibbs isn’t any closer to nailing down.

The England international has made just three starts in the Premier League this season, in comparison to Nacho Monreal’s 22, although one of those starts came in their last league outing at home to Hull.

And, given that Gibbs was picked ahead of Monreal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, it suggests that Wenger isn’t completely sold on either of them, but that the 27-year-old has the position for now.

Thus, Gibbs must prove his capabilities in the role between now and May to secure his long-term future at the Emirates.
