He was out in the wilderness for the few first months of the season, but Yaya Toure has been outstanding for City since his re-integration back into the side.

The 33-year-old made his first start of the campaign away at Crystal Palace on November 19, and scored twice in a man-of-the-match display to help City to a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

Since then, the Ivorian has been a regular feature in Guardiola’s side, starting 12 times in the Premier League, and being included in their Champions League squad for the knockout stages, where he provided an assist in their 5-3 win over Monaco last week.

However, Toure’s contract expires in the summer and, although it looked for all the world that he would be off a few months ago, things have drastically changed and he is now an integral member of the City eleven.

Further impressive performances will surely see him extend his seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond the summer.
