Former Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna is one of several City players out of contract in the summer, and one who has a lot to prove to Guardiola over the coming months.

The defence has been City’s main problem so far this season, conceding 29 goals in the Premier League so far, and the full-backs at the club haven’t exactly done themselves justice this term.

However, of all of them, 34-year-old Sagna has arguably been the best, and was the one that adapted to Guardiola’s style of play particularly well at the start of the campaign.

Nonetheless, just 12 league starts and two others in the Champions League is indicative of a player coming to the end of his time at the Etihad Stadium, so he has a lot of work to do between now and May to convince the club of a new contract beyond the summer.
