Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United have made a decent start to life in the Sky Bet Championship following their disappointing relegation from the top-flight last season.

The Magpies have picked up seven wins from their first 11 league matches, including a run of five straight victories from the middle of August to the middle of September.

A lacklustre performance in the home defeat to Wolves followed, but since that loss Benitez’s side have picked up seven points from a possible nine to sit third in the table, three points adrift of leaders Huddersfield Town.

Although Newcastle got relegated last season, their North East rivals Sunderland avoided the drop under Sam Allardyce.

Former Man United and Everton boss David Moyes took over at the Stadium of Light following Allardyce’s appointment as England manager (which lasted all of 67 days), but the Black Cats have once again struggled to get going in the league, and are winless in their first seven games.

Newcastle have a very talented squad, arguably as strong if not stronger than the one that went down, and there are a few players who’d get into the Sunderland team to help keep them in the Premier League.

Here are THREE that would do just that…

Eek, dont agree with Shelvey & Gayle. They are doing ok in teh Championship, but in the Prem they fell short.
