A potentially controversial choice, but if you look at Erik Lamela’s contributions to the Tottenham front line since joining in 2013, it doesn’t make for great reading.

Just eight Premier League goals from someone who cost over £25 million is just not good enough. He might have the tricks and the skills that fans love to see, but he’s got to do more in the final third to warrant his place and the price tag.

There was so much hype about his arrival in the Premier League and, although there are signs that he has settled into English football in recent months, Lamela is a player who should be producing a lot more in the final third.
