Ben Davies’ move to White Hart Lane from Swansea City in 2014 raised a few eyebrows, especially given the quality Spurs had in the full-back areas.

Although he had to wait until November for his first Premier League appearance for Spurs, he has done more than enough to suggest that he could challenge Danny Rose for the number one left-back spot.

Whenever he deputises for the injured Rose, he seamlessly fits into the back four as if he plays there week in, week out.

Excellent performances for Wales at Euro 2016 will have raised his stock, but he is still seen as a back-up choice by many, although has the potential to keep Rose’s spot in the first team under pressure.
