There were a fair few names that could’ve got third spot, with the likes of Ted Drake, who scored 139 goals in 184 appearances, and Cliff Bastin, who is third on the Gunners’ all-time goal-scorers list, both unlucky to be usurped to the podium.

However, you can’t look past the supremely talented Dennis Bergkamp who, although he scored fewer goals than the aforementioned two, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players the Premier League has even seen.

The Dutchman netted 120 times in an 11-year spell in North London, and won three Premier League titles with Arsenal. It was in 1997/98 that he was particularly inspirational, where he scored 16 league goals in 28 appearances, and was rightly named the FWA Football of the Year and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for that season.

Bergkamp was a genius, and one who deservedly gets a place on this podium.
