Ian Wright’s goal-scoring record at Arsenal was simply sensational.

The Englishman, who was capped 33 times by his country, signed from Crystal Palace for £2.5 million back in 1991, which was at the time a club record transfer fee.

However, it was money very well spent as Wright went on to score 185 goals in just 288 appearances for the Gunners, and was the club’s top-scorer for six successive seasons from 1991 to 1997.

He became the club’s record goal-scorer in 1997, usurping Bastin’s 178 and, although he didn’t win the Premier League with Arsenal until his final season at the club in 1997/98, Wright was brilliant in front of goal, and rightly goes down as a Gunners legend.
