Manchester City suffered a second Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday as they went down 3-1 at home to league leaders Chelsea.

A Gary Cahill own goal had given Pep Guardiola’s side a deserved lead at half-time, but when Kevin De Bruyne missed a sitter and Sergio Aguero’s effort was well-saved by Thibaut Courtois, you sensed that it could galvanise Chelsea.

And it did just that, as goals from Diego Costa, Willian, and Eden Hazard secured the three points for Antonio Conte’s side, who now have a four-point lead over City at the top of the division.

City slipped to fourth as a result of Arsenal winning 5-1 at West Ham in the late kick-off, and Guardiola will be frustrated that his men didn’t kill Chelsea off when the chances came.

Nonetheless, City are still fourth in the table having won nine of their opening 14 games, and are also into the last 16 of the Champions League after a solid campaign thus far in Europe.

They take on Celtic on Tuesday night trying to pick up a third win in Group C but, regardless of the result, they will finish second and could face the likes of Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the first knockout round.

And, with January fast approaching, speculation is increasing about who Guardiola may try and sign to bolster his squad, and also who he may let go to make room for more additions.

They have been linked with several players, and some players have been linked with moves away, and here are TWO rumours that are very unlikely to happen…
