These are the 3 worst January signings Chelsea ever made

Undoubtedly the worst of them all was the £50 million signing of Fernando Torres back in January 2011.

The Spanish international became the sixth most expensive player in history by signing for the Blues, this all after an excellent time at Liverpool where he scored 81 times in just 141 games for the Reds.

However, Torres really struggled to replicate that form and thus justify his price tag at Chelsea, netting just once in the second half of the 2010/11 campaign, and then only 11 times the season after.

He improved to score 22 goals in 64 games in 2012/13, but only eight of those were in the Premier League, before Mourinho allowed the striker to leave on loan to AC Milan in 2014.

Torres left Stamford Bridge last summer to seal a permanent return to Atletico Madrid, 18 months after joining the Spanish club on loan.
