These are the 3 worst January signings Manchester City ever made

Manchester City secured a £6 million deal for Heerenveen striker Georgios Samaras back in January 2006, which at the time was a record for a Greek player.

However, he didn’t really repay his fee while at the Etihad Stadium, as he found the net just 12 times in 64 games for the club.

Samaras appeared in all but three of their 38 Premier League matches in the 2007/08 campaign, but City’s lack of goals (they netted a league low 29 goals that season) somewhat reflected Samaras’ deficiencies as a forward.

The Greek international moved to Celtic in 2008 and had seven successful seasons north of the border, before trying again in the Premier League with West Brom in 2014, again though to no avail.
