Chelsea were linked with Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci when they were embarking on their tricky spell back in September, but it’s still a move Conte should attempt to complete in January.

The 29-year-old has been one of the best centre-backs in world football in recent seasons, and Conte knows all about his qualities from his spell in charge of the Old Lady and indeed the Italian national team.

Although Gary Cahill has improved since Chelsea switched to a back three, Bonucci knows the system and the manager even better, and would be a brilliant signing for the Blues.
