Laurent Koscielny took time to adapt to English football, but there’s little doubt now that he’s one of the best centre-backs in the division.

The French international, who appeared for his country more in 2016 than in the preceding two years, moved to the Emirates from Lorient in 2010 after impressing for the French side, although struggled in his first few seasons in England.

However, the 31-year-old has grown into a solid and dependable centre-back and, although still is prone to the odd mistake, he more than makes up for them with several goal-saving blocks and challenges.

Wenger tied him down to a new long-term deal last month, and you sense that Arsenal will need his defensive and leadership qualities between now and May to catch leaders Chelsea.
