This is the Arsenal XI that can catch Premier League leaders Chelsea

Clearly, the left-back slot is a concern for Arsenal, with both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs not doing enough to persuade Wenger of a regular first team slot.

Spanish international Monreal has had the ascendancy in recent times, although England international Gibbs got the nod against Hull last weekend, and should be the regular starter between now and May.

The 27-year-old has only started three Premier League games this term, compared to Monreal’s 22, yet Gibbs’ greater pace and ability to get up and down the flanks should see him secure a regular starting berth over the coming weeks.

Whether he’s the long-term solution remains to be seen, but between now and May, it should be Gibbs who gets the nod at left-back.
