News that Jan Vertonghen will return to full training in the coming weeks will be music to the ears of Tottenham fans.

The Belgian international suffered a nasty-looking injury in their 4-0 victory over West Brom last month, and many expected the defender to endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, it looks like he’ll be back earlier than expected, and Spurs fans will be delighted given Vertonghen’s excellent displays at the back this season.

The 29-year-old has started 20 of their 24 league games this term, and has been a key part of the defence which has conceded just 16 goals thus far, the least of any side in the division.

Obviously, his form and performances will be vital in Spurs’ quest to catch Chelsea.
