Arguably the best defender in the Premier League last season, Toby Alderweireld has been sensational since his move to England back in 2014.

The Belgium international initially spent time at Southampton in the 2014/15 campaign, and was brilliant for the Saints in helping them to a seventh place finish under Ronald Koeman.

Nevertheless, he has got even better under Pochettino at White Hart Lane, and was the standout defender in their title challenge last season, in which Spurs finished with the joint-best defensive record in the league, alongside United.

Injury has disrupted his campaign this time around, but he’s nearing full fitness and Spurs fans will be thrilled to see him nearing a start.
