As much as Eric Bailly has been impressive since moving to Old Trafford, it’s difficult to leave out Alderweireld’s compatriot and central defensive partner Jan Vertonghen.

The 29-year-old struck up a formidable partnership and understanding with Alderweireld last season, and was a key part of the Spurs defence which conceded just 35 goals in the Premier League.

His injury at the end of last season was unfortunate, but Vertonghen has kept things solid this time around in Alderweireld’s absence.

The best centre-back partnership in the division? Undoubtedly.
