Mourinho doesn’t appear to have settled on a left-back yet.

Matteo Darmian has occupied that berth in recent times, while Luke Shaw was there earlier in the season, and Daley Blind has also deputised there occasionally.

However, Pochettino has the luxury of being able to rely on Danny Rose at left-back who, like Walker, has made the England spot his own in recent months.

The 26-year-old has come a long way from the youngster that scored that sensational goal against Arsenal on his Premier League debut in 2010, and is now a dependable full-back who has improved defensively under Pochettino.

Like Walker, Rose can provide a serious attacking threat, and Spurs are often at their best when these two get wide – Rose is a certainty in this side at present.
