The younger Redknapp’s star potential meant that their time together at the start of Jamie’s career was short-lived.

He made 13 appearances for his dad at Bournemouth before attracting the attention of Liverpool, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in English football when he moved to Anfield in 1991.

With his on-the-pitch career winding down, Jamie linked up with his father once more for a short spell at Southampton in January 2005. However, injuries meant he was unable to prevent his dad’s side from being relegated from the Premier League that season.
