Top 5: Carlos Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday victories

5. Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Bristol City (08/08/15)

Carlos Carvalhal’s first game in control of the Owls saw Sheffield Wednesday host Bristol City at Hillsborough.

In a game where new arrivals Jack Hunt, Alex Lopez, Marco Matias and Lucas Joao all made their debuts for Wednesday, expectations from the fans was on the rise.

The hosts ran out 2-0 winners that day courtesy of a headed goal by Tom Lees on 60 minutes, before now forgotten man Lewis McGugan slotted home a volley ten minutes later to rub salt in the wounds of a newly promoted Bristol City side.

Ever since this victory, Carvalhal’s men have continued to impress at Hillsborough and a clean sheet is still a common theme.

Home form played a huge part in Wednesday’s road to Wembley as they went on to reach the play-off final last term.
