Another reason to not write off the Gunners just yet is that they have done this all before.

Remember “The Invincibles” of 2003/04, who went the whole Premier League season without losing a game? Well they weren’t so invincible in Europe, managing just one point from their first three Champions League group games.

They were facing an early exit as their fourth game headed towards the final whistle with the score 0-0 against Dynamo Kiev, until left-back Ashley Cole scored a rare goal as Highbury breathed a huge sigh of relief, as they held on to win 1-0.

The Gunners then dispatched Inter Milan in unbelievable fashion, winning 5-1 away in the San Siro, and somehow finished top of the group with a simple 2-0 win vs Lokomotiv Moscow on matchday six.

No wonder Wenger looks ice cool despite his team being in real danger of going out this season.
