The Champions League has never been tougher, with Europe’s elite strengthening over the summer, as well as underdogs such as Zenit and Benfica performing impressively in the opening four matches.

A number of players have shone on club football’s biggest stage, but who have been the standout superstars so far in 2015/16?

Lewandowski has been on fire this season

After grabbing the headlines with five goals in nine minutes against Wolfsburg, and with 25 goals in 23 games for club and country this season, Robert Lewandowski has continued his prolific scoring form in the Champions League. The Poland international scored a home hat-trick against Dinamo Zagreb to see the German Champions net eight goals in their first two games, before he notched the opener in their 5-1 win over Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.
