1. Northwich Victoria

The lowest ranked side in the second round came within minutes of pulling off a major shock away at League Two high flyers Northampton Town.

Jimmy Ball put the visitors ahead before the break with a sweet left-footed volley following a corner.

And after the interval Richard Bennett nodded home a second to put Northwich two goals clear.

Yet Northampton weren’t out of the tie and replied when Nicky Adams’ shot deflected in off Sam Hoskins in the 83rd minute.

Adams was again the provider as Jason Taylor headed them level, before Sheffield United loanee Dominic Calvert-Lewin nodded the winner from Ricky Holmes’ right-wing cross for the Cobblers’ third goal in four minutes.

Despite the fantastic comeback, Northwich still had a chance to make it 3-3, but Adam Smith pulled off a fantastic point-blank range save to send Town into the third round where they will host MK Dons.
