The pressure continues to grow on Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, after Tuesday night’s League Cup defeat at Stoke City.

As much as the performance was an improvement on recent showings, the result ultimately has left Jose in a position he has never found himself in before in his managerial career.

Defeat at home to Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime could see the ‘Special One’ sacked; an almost unthinkable possibility when he lifted his third Premier League title as Blues manager in May.

But if Jose was shown the exit door, who could possibly replace him?

Here are our Top 5 candidates…..

5. Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers developed his skills at Chelsea

Recently let go by Liverpool, Rodgers is an outside shot for the job, but has history at the club. During Jose Mourinho’s first spell in West London, he was youth and reserve team manager so he knows the Blues well. He has also had successful spells as a boss at Swansea and Liverpool, almost guiding the Reds to the title a couple of seasons back. However, last term and the start of this one have damaged his reputation somewhat and fans would likely be sceptical to this appointment.
