Once tipped as Brazil’s next rising star, Alexandre Pato looks set to join Guus Hiddink’s side on a six-month loan deal.

The former AC Milan striker scored 16 Serie A goals in 43 appearances but struggled towards the end of his five-year spell with the Italian gianst. He returned to Brazil in 2013, and was then loaned out to Sao Paulo from Corinthians for two seasons, scoring 19 times.

This move is now more than likely, as the 26-year-old has flown to London and passed his medical. However, should this move fall through at the final hurdle, reports suggest that Hiddink could make a shock move to bring Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie back to the Premier League.
