James Ward-Prowse doubled his Saints goal tally with his brace against West Brom.

The 21-year-old doubled his career tally for Southampton with two goals that helped his side on their way to a convincing 3-0 home victory against West Bromwich Albion.

His first, after less than five minutes, was a thing of beauty as he whipped a free-kick, placed slightly to the left of the goal, into the top corner, giving Boaz Myhill no chance.

With just one goal from his previous 92 league games for the Hampshire side, Ward-Prowse stepped up from the spot after Matt Targett had been fouled by Craig Dawson to make the score 2-0.

The youngster’s all-round performance was also of a high standard, linking up play and covering the ground well, as Saints looked back to their best.
