Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal and Leicester at the top of the Premier League to one point after their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace was followed by draws for the Gunners and Foxes at Stoke and Aston Villa respectively.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Southampton and Manchester United, who defeated fierce rivals Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield thanks to Wayne Rooney’s fifth goal in his last three games.

But in another entertaining weekend of top-flight fixtures, who were the top performers?

Here’s Shoot’s Top 5 Premier League Players of the Week…..

5. Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur)

Eriksen’s goals helped Spurs secure another vital three points.

Having scored in each of his last three games against Sunderland, Eriksen went one better this time, netting twice as Spurs eventually cruised to a 4-1 victory at White Hart Lane.

The Dane’s first came within a minute of the Black Cats taking the lead, pouncing when Harry Kane’s shot was saved to drive the ball home from the edge of the box, although Lee Cattermole should have done better to block it on the line.

After Mousa Dembele put the North London side ahead, the 23-year-old struck a sensational strike with his left foot which, aided by a deflection, hit the post and flew into the back of Jordan Pickford’s net.

With the playmaker looking dangerous in the final third, Spurs, who are just five points off the top-two, should fancy their chances for the rest of the season.
