Leicester City’s lead at the top of the Premier League was reduced to just two points as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Arsenal thanks to Danny Welbeck’s last minute header.

Tottenham Hotspur also moved two points behind the Foxes after their 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

Elsewhere; there were wins for Liverpool, Chelsea, Southampton, West Brom, Watford, Stoke City and Sunderland.

But after a weekend where the gap was closed at the summit, who were the top performers in the Premier League?

Here’s Shoot’s Top 5 Players of the Weekend…

5. Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham)

Spurs’ Belgian international was their defensive lynchpin as they grounded out an invaluable 2-1 victory over fellow title contenders Manchester City.

The 26-year-old put his body on the line to make a number of important blocks and interceptions as Christian Eriksen’s late strike claimed all three points at the Etihad.

The former La Liga winner’s ball playing ability was highlighted by many as a key reason that Mauricio Pochettino’s side were able to stretch the Citizens and grab that all-important winner.
