The former FC Barcelona winger showed glimpses of the world-class quality which resulted in his £19m move to Stanford Bridge back in the summer.

The 28-year-old put the Blues 2-0 ahead after he latched onto Rolando Aarons’ short pass to Daryl Janmaat and finished past Rob Elliot expertly from outside of the area.

After the break he extended his side’s lead to 4-0 as he controlled Cesc Fabregas’ long pass on his chest and finished underneath the helpless Elliot.
