Manchester United are the early leaders at the top of the Premier League after their emphatic 3-1 win at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

The weekend’s most entertaining game unfolded later the same day at the Emirates Stadium as Jurgen Klopp’s new-look Liverpool side edged out Arsenal in an incredible 4-3 thriller.

Elsewhere; Chelsea, Manchester City,  Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Hull City picked up opening day victories.

But as the season gets underway, who were the top performers?

Here’s Shoot’s Top 5 Premier League Players of the Weekend…

5. Gaston Ramirez (Middlesbrough)

The Uruguayan international was in superb form as he assisted Alvaro Negredo’s opener and dictated the play in Boro’s first game back in the top-flight since 2009 as they hosted Stoke City.

The 6ft tall forward used his height to loop Albert Adomah’s left sided cross back across goal for the Valencia loanee to open the scoring.

Ramirez has now scored seven goals and provided four assists since moving to the Riverside on loan from Southampton back in January, having made the move permanent on a free transfer in July.

The 25-year-old almost capped off his classy performance with a sweet low-driven strike, but he saw his effort rebound against the upright when it would have surely given Aitor Karanka’s side an invaluable three points to kick start their season.
