Top 5: Premier League sides that can catch the ‘Top Six’

Everton

Everton probably have the best chance of catching the top six, as they are currently only six points off of Manchester United and are unbeaten in their last eight league games.

This is a spell that has seen the Merseyside team put six goals past Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth and convincingly dispatch of Premier League champions Leicester City 2-0, Claude Puel’s Southampton 3-0 and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 4-0.

In fact, since the turn of this year, Ronald Koeman’s team top the Premier League form table and are one of only five European clubs (including Manchester United, Barcelona, Napoli and Bayern Munich) to be on an unbeaten run lasting more than eight games in the league.

So far this season, the assumption has been that Everton’s main battle is going to be for seventh place – but their sights should be set higher.

Having been knocked out of both the EFL Cup and FA Cup, The Toffees should be pushing towards their first top six finish since Roberto Martinez guided them to a fifth place finish in 2013-14.
