Another one of the Manchester City players being made to wait until the end of the season for discussions about a new contract is right-back Zabaleta.

The Argentine is somewhat of a fan favourite having spent the last nine seasons at the Etihad and has proved that he still has lots to offer on the pitch.

He has played 26 times under Guardiola this season and is nearing 350 appearances for the club – scoring 11 goals and picking up 27 assists along the way.

Out of the players who have been told that they need to prove themselves, Zabaleta is probably the most likely to earn himself a new deal.

Should he not remain in Manchester next season though, Slaven Bilic’s West Ham are reportedly interested in signing the defender and would be happy to meet his demands of regular game time.

Whilst his future is in doubt, one thing that is for certain is that any team finding themselves able to pick Zabaleta up on a free can consider it a great piece of business indeed.
