Talking of Lukaku, the Belgium international now holds the record for the most expensive British transfer fee of all-time, having cost Manchester United an initial £75m from Everton, though the deal could be worth a whopping £90m including add-ons.

The 24-year-old netted 25 Premier League strikes last season for The Toffees, only Tottenham’s Harry Kane (29) scored more in the top-flight.

Following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Old Trafford exit this summer, due to injury, boss Jose Mourinho was forced to spend big on bringing in the Belgian, who scored 87 times in just 166 games overall for Everton since 2013.
