Taking just one point from their first nine matches and winning only two games in their first 20, it is with no surprise that this Sheffield Wednesday team were relegated from the top flight of English football and have been unable to make a return since.

The modern-day way of dismissing football managers was not commonplace back in the 1999/00 season, but Wednesday fans will still believe to this day that the decision to sack their manager Danny Wilson was made far too late in order to save the Owls from their doomed fate.
