Tottenham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Kenya international Victor Wanyama this summer, according to Football Insider (via the Express).

The Premier League side, who finished third in the English top-flight this term after being pipped to the runners-up spot by North London rivals Arsenal on the final day, have been continually linked with a move for the Southampton midfielder.

The 24-year-old, who has 42 international caps for his country, scored one goal and provided one assist in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Saints this season.

Wanyama, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in July 2013 after sealing a reported £12.5m switch from Celtic, has already refused a new contract at Southampton.

The report suggests that Spurs’ pursuit of the defensive midfielder has been boosted given Everton entering talks over making Saints boss Ronald Koeman their new manager, opening the door for Wanyama to put pen to paper on a move to White Hart Lane.
