Tottenham went to Manchester City knowing that they needed all three points to keep the pressure on league leaders Leicester, who had earlier in the day lost away at Arsenal.

And they came away with a vital 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.

Pochettino’s men took the lead when Kane fired home a penalty eight minutes into the second half after Raheem Sterling was harshly penalised for hand ball, yet the home side hit back when Kelechi Iheanacho equalised 16 minutes from time.

However, it was Spurs who had the last say as Danish international Eriksen slotted home seven minutes from the end to secure an integral win for Spurs, and their first at the Etihad in six years.
