West Brom are reportedly lining up a sensational £25m move for Queens Park Rangers star Charlie Austin.

The Premier League club are desperate to replace England striker Saido Berahino at The Hawthorns, who is destined to join rivals Tottenham by the close of the transfer window, despite already rejecting several bids for last season’s top goalscorer.

Austin, 26, who used to play for non-league sides Poole Town and Hungerford Town, has already scored four goals in as many games for the Championship side this term.

Last season Austin finished as the English top flight’s fourth highest goalscorer after netting 18 league goals in 35 appearances for Chris Ramsey’s men.

However, the Baggies’ commitment to splashing out up to £25m for the English striker is a surprise given QPR have been demanding £15m from other potential suitors such as Newcastle United and West Ham United throughout the summer.

But the expected sale of fellow forward Berahino will mean West Brom will have an influx of cash to spend on their preferred replacement, with the hope that the extra £10m will pocket their number one target.
