West Bromwich Albion look set to close a deal for Tottenham Hotspur centre back Federico Fazio.

The Argentina international only joined the club last summer but unconvincing performances coupled with the arrival Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer see him surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was hoping to use the 28-year-old as part of a player plus cash deal for top target Saido Berahino.

However, the Baggies are not interested in selling the England Under-21 forward and would only consider it if they get a straight cash offer of around £25 million – £7 million more than the London club’s first bid.

Despite the stalling over Berahino, Tony Pulis is still expected to wrap up a deal for Fazio who won the Europa League with Sevilla in 2014.

    Really?

The window is starting to close. Sales of Soldado and Fazio alone will have generated approx £15m. There is a surplus from earlier sales in the window. WBA aren’t going to shift from £25m so go buy Berahino now for that figure. Save the haggling Mr Levy for the car boot sale! Get the deal done now!
