When Sanchez put the Gunners ahead after just 20 minutes, you sensed that Arsenal would build on that and stamp their authority on the game.

But they didn’t.

The visitors didn’t have another shot on target until the last knockings of the contest, and they allowed Everton to grow into the game and get the fans behind them.

Wenger will be disappointed to have given the hosts the impetus to get back into the game, and he’ll be more frustrated with the two goals they conceded, with both coming from balls into the box and finding the unmarked man.

A disappointing evening for the Gunners, and they’ll have to respond against Manchester City on Sunday.
