What’s Hot and What’s Not from Leicester’s remarkable Champions League run

NOT – Porto 5-0 Leicester

Leicester had just lost 2-1 at Sunderland in the Premier League to fall two points clear of the bottom three when they travelled to Porto for their final Champions League group stage match.

So Ranieri’s decision to make ten changes wasn’t much of a surprise, and as a result, nor was the scoreline.

The Foxes were battered 5-0 by the Portuguese giants, with a brace from Andre Silva, as well as goals from Jesus Corona, Yacine Brahimi, and Diogo Jota, sealing a comprehensive victory for the hosts, who subsequently joined Leicester in the knockout stages.

The result mattered little, as Ranieri’s side were guaranteed to win the group anyway, but it did somewhat tarnish their up-to-then excellent European campaign.
